Man creates giant kebab

A Greek restaurant owner has broken the record for the world's largest kebab. Costas Dasios from Patras made the pork kebab weighing 1,850kgs on a 1.73-metre steel skewer, according to the Kathimerini newspaper.

On Feburary 10, 2006, Wayne and Anita Warren, owners of “The House of Bread” in Mill Creek, Washington received their certificate from the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest cinnamon roll ever made! Weighing in at 111.8kg’s (246.5lb’s), they served the roll to local residents, and raised over $1400 for Hopelink, a local charity

On October 15, the roll was baked in the presence of officials from the State Department of Agriculture who certified its edibility and weight. “Food Factory”, a restaurant chain in India has created India’s largest pizza. A 6ft wide mammoth weighing in at 77kg!! (That’s 170lb’s!!)

One of our anonymous readers sent this one in today. A massive 12 pound Canadian Emperor Crab. At $30/pound, it wasn't cheap, but hey, it's all in the name of Supersized Meals!

We were eating dinner at one of our favorite Chinese places in Chinatown (no, I'm not going to say where), when Guy asked me to step outside with him for a minute before our hotpot arrived. We walked across the street, stopped at the bank to pick up some cash, and then came face to face with the monster.

A little like "The Fat Bastard Burger", The "Wally Burger" consists of three, one pound slabs of ground beef stacked on top of each other, squished between two regular-sized buns. Cheese is an option.
Prior to this news story, only one person had completed this meaty feat. Caleb Stamps. That was until hearty news reporter Victor Blackwell thought that he'd give it a go as part of the story. And what a story it was!

The calorie count is astronomical, somewhere in the 7,000 range. The $15 burger is on the house if you eat it and the pound of fries that come with it. If not, dig deep. Wally says seven or eight people have tried the Wally Burger challenge, but no one made it to the finish line, until Caleb Stamps walked in the door last week.

Even though these photos were taken back in 2003, there's a certain amount of timelessness when it comes to eating challenges. While I personally wouldn't wear what he was wearing, the challenge remains.... eat the 3lb Speck Burger by himself with fries in 45 minutes and it's free!

According to Google Translator, Waldgeist means "The Forest Spirit". Anything to do with Sasquatch do you think? Not only do they do the Supersized Schnitzel and the Supersized Kransky, they also do a Supersized Burger, Supersized Beers, Supersized Rump Steaks, Supersized Bacardi and Cola's (8 litres!), everything in this place is Supersized! Awesome!

"The Big Daddy Luke", Tony Luke's Beef & Beer Sports Bar, Philadelphia

Tony Luke's have been making sandwiches since 1939. But recently, they've opened up Tony Luke's Beef and Beer Sports Bar just over the road from the original store. And what's a good sports bar without a few good sporting challenges, like competitive eating! Tony's put up the challenge, eat the 3lb Big Daddy Luke by yourself in less than an hour, and you score a free T-shirt!
"Humble" Bob Shoudt sent in some photos of when they went down to check out the Big Daddy Luke! Get this, 3lb meat 1+ lbs roll and toppings. "Humble" Bob and Joey "Jaws" set the record in under 6 minutes (1 burger each) Unbelievable!
[Updated 5 November 2007] - Thanks to Wild Bill for the (unfortunate) info, but it seems this burger is no longer available :( Trying to get confirmation from Tony Luke himself, more updates to follow!

Luke Sr.'s newest emporium — the industrially designed Tony Luke's Beef & Beer Sports Bar — has come up with the utmost in meat: a 3-pound burger called the Big Daddy Luke. Selling for $20 a pop, the 48-ounce Daddy isn't necessarily meant to be supped and slurped on by one person. Rather, tables of four to six have been known to take on the mammoo of meat. Yet, Luke offers single-serving competitive eaters (a veritable Philly sect since the Wing Bowl) a challenge: If a solo eater can down the Big Daddy within an hour, they get a picture on the Wall of Fame and an "I Ate The Whole Thing" T-shirt.

A few of our visitors have told us about this amazing feat, thanks for the submissions everyone! Don "Moses" Lerman gave it a crack, but didn't quite make it. But it looks like this challenge has been won for the first time!

The two top 10 ranked eaters, "Humble Bob" Shoudt and Tim "Eater X" Janus were the first team to finish the 28 inch pie and won a prize of $350 for their efforts. They beat it last December (thanks ojrifkin!)

It was only a matter of time. The challenge had been set, the 100x100 had become legendary, and now it was time for that record to fall. These guys decided that time was now, and constructed a 101x101 (well, actually, it was first claimed to be 117, then calculated at 26x4=104, so I'm not really sure... but in the end, 117 patties were consumed, apparently...) but anyway, it was a huge burger though! Not only beef and cheese, but the usual lettuce/etc that goes with a 4x4. Crazy!

alright...so we did it...and it was gross.
here's the box were had to take with us since they refused to serve us a 101x101 at the restaurant. they said that they had caught wind of a 64x64 that people had put pics of online and it looked really gross, and also showed that the meat was undercooked and of poor quality. it basically came down to an image and PR thing. we ended up ordering and paying for 26 4x4's and 5 fries and having to take them togo cause they wouldn't let us eat there.
it ended up taking about 30 minutes to cook our burgers [they turned on a 3rd burner for us] and we're on our way!
