Extreme Drive Thru at McDonalds
Contributed by: Billy
When Las Vegas celebrates, they do it big. And back in 2005, when they were celebrating their centenary, they created a birthday cake, a BIG birthday cake. In fact, the worlds largest! 30,000 half-sheet cakes and nearly 40,000 pounds of frosting later, they had the worlds largest birthday cake!
From: http://www.lasvegas2005.org/news/scrapbook/cake/
We had our cake, and we ate it too! What's a Centennial Birthday party without cake? Whatever the answer, no one in Las Vegas wanted to risk it. So during the early hours of the morning on May 15, 2005, eight semi-trucks from North Carolina drove into the loading zone at Cashman Center hauling 30,000 half-sheet cakes and nearly 40,000 pounds of frosting. Volunteers were already gathering nearby to start the process of unloading, unpacking, stacking, and ultimately frosting.

LVHRD are a group of people from different walks of life (fashion and architecture, design, photography and law), who get together every now and then to exchange ideas and have a good time. They also know how to party with snacks! They've come up with "The Vending Machine Challenge", the ultimate snack eating race to see which team can consume an entire vending machine first!
From: http://www.thehappycorp.com/press/archives/2005/10/lvhrd_recap_the.php
We know you've been waiting for it, so here it is. LVHRD reached new highs on October 17th with the world's debut of the Vending Machine Challenge, a competitive eating event in which two teams were charged with the task of eating the entire contents of a vending machine in the fastest time possible. More than 350 members made their way to the Pioneer Bar on the Bowery to watch designers, media reps, dancers, and advertisers duke it out for glutton glory!

[Updated 4 Oct 06, thanks eatfeats!] This is a photo of the 10 lb Talayna's pizza. Eat it, and you get $1000. Not surprisingly, no one has. I mean, check out the look on this guys face. He hasn't even started it and he's in pain already!
The three of us decided to order the 30-inch Monster New York Manhattan Style pizza. The restaurant has a contest rewarding any person who can eat one of these pizzas and drink two pitchers of soda; the lucky-and stuffed- winner will receive $1,000. However, none of us were up to the challenge, opting instead to split the pizza between us.

Adding onto our earlier post, Tanker and Splash made their way down to Denny's Beer Barrel pub, and after a 14 hour road trip, got to finally taste the greatness of the Denny's Ye Old 96er. The question is though, did any of them finish the whole thing? The mystery continues!
From: http://www.stuckinsaintjohn.com/2006/09/i-think-i-survived-dennys-beer-barrel.html
Well, the boys and I just got back to the super 8 and I thought I would give you all a little taste of the experience from the road. Eager Al took on the 6 pounder (11.5 including the fixins') and Chris, Keith, Scott, and I took on the 2 pounder (probably 4 or 5 with everything on it, and Dan did the Burger Bits to start and a black angus platter. Well, we all came away very humbled, like men on a pilgramidge, we found ourselves, and our limits.

John Marcotte was faced with a challenge, to out-do a friend in an eating competition. John had already managed to out-eat his friend by finishing a 12x12, but rather than accepting victory, John wanted to annihilate the competition. He'd attempt to set the bar at a 20x20. Could he do it? Could John reach this pinnacle of burger enlightenment? This is his story!
From: http://www.badmouth.net/in-n-out-the-20x20/
It all started—as you would expect—when we were drunk. Somehow my cousin Greg and I got on the topic of eating and we got into a little argument about who could eat more. I told him that I was going to go to In-N-Out and eat a 10×10, 10 beef patties, 10 slices of cheese. The strange thing was, it still sounded like a good idea to me when I sobered up.

Thanks to one of our anonymous readers for putting us onto this one! Adding onto our last writeup about Bob's BBQ and Grill, the lads over at cheese-burger.net scored some exclusive photos of the huge burger!
From: http://www.cheese-burger.net/stories/worlds-biggest-cheeseburger-photos.html
Bob's BBQ & Grill of Pattaya, Thailand has smashed the current record for producing the world's biggest cheeseburger. The landmark in cheeseburger history was created in celebration of the king of Thailand's 60th year accession to the throne and was part of a wide range of events being held all year in Thailand to mark the occasion.

The Darwin Stubby
Contributed by: Billy
Uniquely Australian, the "Darwin Stubby" is well known for its sheer size and volume of beery goodness. Up to a whopping 2.25 litres, you don't need a 6 pack of these to get hammered! Could be the perfect accompaniment to some of the Supersized Meals in here I reckon!
In 1956 CUB set up the first brewery in Darwin. The first local beer, Carlton Draught, was brewed on 13 October of that year. Bottled CUB beer continued to be shipped from Melbourne. Because of the logistics of shipping bottles such a long distance, it was decided that a bigger bottle would be used – a 2.25 litre giant which became known as the “Darwin Stubby”.
