UEPa takes on Denny's Beer Barrel Pub
Contributed by: Billy
Dave Shoffner from Megamunch is always on the lookout for an eating challenge. This time, Dave and the members of the UEPa (The United Eaters of Pennsylvania) took on the Denny's Beer Barrel Pub's massive burger menu. A few tried the 6 pounder, while Dave gave the 3 pounder a shot. A worthy adversary those burgers, with only a select few able to finish. He's also taken some great photos of the pub, and the walls of fame. Here's their story!

I suck. Let me just get that out of the way right now. If I’m ever in a competitive eating contest with you and I start talking trash, just say, “Hey Dave, how’d you do against that three-pound burger at Denny’s Beer Barrel Pub?” That’ll shut me right up.

Pat Bertoletti does the 5lb Burger Challenge in 3.5 minutes
Contributed by: Billy
Googlemaps Location: Joliet, IL, USA
A while ago, we wrote about the King of the (5lb) Burger Challenge at the Fieldhouse Sports Bar & Grill, Joliet, IL. The original challenge was If you can eat this 5lb burger and fries within 30 minutes, you get not only the burger for free, but you get a free meal, every day for 1 year! Yep, 365 free meals. Well, for a highly coveted IFOCE member such as Pat, it doesn't take him long to destroy this one. 2.5 minutes for the burger, and another 1 minute to finish off the rest of the plate! And to top it off, he had a Gyro Platter, because the 5lb burger wasn't enough! This was his "training" before the Krystal Square Off, where he placed 3rd behind Joey "The Jaws" Chestnut, and Takeru Kobayashi. There's also a few pics of the Krystal Square off, and some pre-match training at a local Krystal by Richard Le Fevre.

The Nugget King
Contributed by: Billy
Following on from The Wendy's Super Nugget Super Challenge, another star is born, and crowned "The Nugget King". While our previous champion ate 26 Wendy's nuggets, the newly crowned Nugget King downed 40! Not a bad effort.... And not only does he eat 40 nuggets, he does "The Nugget Dance". I wonder how far this competition will go?
From: http://www.orangeride.com/archives/2005/nugget_king/index.html
Earlier this winter, I put my life at risk by setting the record for most Wendy's chicken Nuggets consumed in a single sitting. It should be noted, there was no documentation of a previous record, so I set the bar at 26. I hoped that posting my feat online would encourage others to foolishly challenge and fall short of my historic accomplishment.

The "Fantastic Four" (I just made that up), consisting of Joey "Jaws" Chestnut, Tim "Eater X" Janus, Pat "Deep Dish" Bertoletti, and Hall "Hoover" Hunt took on the Chili Dog Challenge. The Challenge? To eat more than 43 Chili Dogs in 4 hours. Tim ate 43.5, breaking a 23 year old record held by a 5' 3" 110 pound woman!

The Wendy's Super Nugget Super Challenge!
Contributed by: Billy
The challenge is to consume at least 27.5 Wendy's Chicken Nuggets in one sitting. Why 27.5? I've got no idea.... something to do with the optimum amount of nuggets to have in an eating competition (apparently he's got a B.A. in Quantum Nuggetry! Can't argue with that!)
From: http://www.orangeride.com/archives/2005/suberbowl_saturday/index.html
The Wendy's Super Nugget Super Challenge!™ We devised numerous equations to determine the largest amount of chicken nuggets a non-obese human could consume. After numerous calculations, we finally agreed on an over/under of 27.5 nuggets. Listen... I have a B.A. in Quantum Nuggetry, while my brother graduated from Harvard's school of Nuggonomics. Trust us on this one.

The Carl's Jr. $6,000 combo meal
Contributed by: Billy
[from Slashfood] Now this is what I'd call a happy meal! This Carl's Jr./Hardee's commercial has the two owners of Palms Casino Resort, Joe, Gavin, George Jr. and Phil Maloof chowing down on a $6 burger, and a $5,994 bottle of Petrus '82 Pomerol wine. Would you like a sundae with that?
The commercial first aired last week and the unusually luxe combo meal is actually on the room service menu at The Palms.

The Ocho starring Kevin Cronen
Contributed by: Billy
This video is awesome. Kevin Cronen gets an Octo, and eats it to the sounds of a hillbilly banjo backing track (the video has been sped up). Funny stuff!

8 patties, 4 pounds of beef, heard of only in legend.... and in kevin's bowls.....(as told by ian welch....not eric chambers...)
World's Most Expensive Pizza

To raise charity, this restauranteur has created a $4000 pizza to help the Fred Hollows Foundation. I wonder if they'll honor a competitors 2-for-1 coupon?

A CHEF has created what could be the world's most expensive pizza to raise funds for the Fred Hollows Foundation.
The pizza is sprinkled with gold and topped with champagne-soaked caviar and lobster marinated in the finest cognac.
Creator Domenico Crolla said it was worth more than $3700.

coffeesnob's Happy Birthday Me Meatcake

Spoil yourself. coffeesnob did! He made himself a meatcake for his birthday, and was kind enough to do up this howto. Happy belated birthday coffeesnob!

Begin with your favorite meat loaf recipe, but cook it in two 8" cake rounds. Non-stick is my favorite.
