The Holden Aussie BBQ

BBQ's are already pretty Aussie, but how to make an Aussie Icon even more Aussie? Half-cut a GTS Holden Monaro (!?!?!!), and build a BBQ in the engine bay! That's what this genius did. It's even got a working bonnet. Wonder how many kilometers it'll do before it needs an oil change?

Cthulhu: Eater of Souls, Roaster of Dogs

The secret to a great BBQ weanie is to make sure you don't burn it on the grill. And we've all seen it, dad gets a hold of the tongs and it's all over, black meat sticks for all. Well fear no more! There is a solution, albeit a little evil looking. It's Cthulhu: Eater of Souls, Roaster of Dogs. This strange looking contraption holds your dogs above the grill to prevent burning. Perfect dogs are just a soul away!

From: http://www.friday.com/bbum/2007/05/26/cthulhu-eater-of-souls-roaster-of-dogs/

A while ago, I wrote about some pretty funny / cool hot dog roasters sent to me from the folks at roastmyweenie.com. Work well enough, and pretty amusing, but not exactly practical for even a modest sized cook. I really wanted a roaster that could hold more than one dog. After thinking about it a bit, dawned on me that some creature with tentacles would be perfect and easy enough to cut on roastmyweenie’s water jet based cutter. Now, I could have a gone with a squid based design as they will, in fact, eventually rule the living world. But, nah….

The Deviled Ostrich Egg

LaMachine! wanted to take something a little different to an upcoming party, and came up with the idea of taking a Deviled Ostrich Egg! It was a little bigger than your average softball, and apparently tasted just like a real egg! [Edit: a real Chicken egg, that is!]

We definately got some attention when we walked into the party with it. And yes, most people actually tried it. It honestly tastes just like a chicken egg.

My fried oreos tutorial was reviewed by News10Now, a news channel owned by Time Warner and based in Syracuse, New York (circa. 2004). They mistakenly referred to me as an Indonesian woman (I'm Malaysian!).

Danamania's Deep Fried Salad Sandwich

You might remember Danamania from her earlier creation of the Beer Battered Deep Fried Bacon Double Quarter Pounder. Well that crazy culinary calorie queen is at it again! [Edited 15 June 07 - Dana's female! (oops!)] This time though she's taken a healthier approach. We all know Bacon Double Quarter Pounders have lots of fat, so this time she's decided to roll with a Salad Sandwich instead. Soggy lettuce anyone?

From: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies-archive.cfm/410257.html

I tried a deep fried beer battered salad sandwich a few months ago. Unlike the burger, which was just *heavy*, the salad sandwich was nauseating. I finished it, but had to go lie down afterwards to avoid it returning - hot squishy lettuce & cucumber is foul. Still, I guess I should have known that... but somebody had to try it :)
