The 50 lb plus Beer Barrel Belly Buster, the worlds largest!
Denny has done it again! Not one to just sit idle and let the Clinton Station Diner hold the title for the "Largest commercially available burger", Denny and his team of burger technicians have come up with this monster. The Beer Barrel Belly Buster. Over 50lb's of big, burgery goodness! It's available now at Denny's Beer Barrel Pub. Not sure of the price yet, but will update once I find out!

The Persistence of Man

I found this really funny short film on YouTube. It's about running out of propane in the midst of a grand BBQ. There's some damn good looking meat in it.

World's Longest Hot Dog in Portland, OR
From: http://tarteauxpoires.blogspot.com/2006/07/dog-day-afternoon.html
and http://www.flickr.com/photos/crumbs/185322965/in/photostream/

When I saw "World's Largest Hot Dog and Bun" on the web site for Pioneer Courthouse Square's web site a few months ago, I was interested. It'd be overstating the truth to say that I was excited. But mildly interested, certainly so. If nothing else, it afforded me the opportunity to get out of the office for part of the afternoon...

Deep Fried Brats!

Inspired by the Beer Battered Deep Fried Bacon Double Quarter Pounder, this guy thought he'd deep fry a few brats-on-a-bun. Not big in size, but big in calories!

June 24, 2006 - So I had some brats that I was going to flame broil up in my oven. Then I saw this link of how some guy deep fried a bacon double quarter pounder and I've eaten a Bennigan's Monte Cristo sandwich. So it was only natural for me to continue the culinary exploration into Deep Fried Brats

The 100oz Steak Challenge, The King of Spain, Symonds Yat Rock, UK
Here's a story about a lad who decided to bow to peer pressure, and take the "King of Spain's" 100oz steak challenge in front of his workmates. The story is long, but a funny read about the challenges of eating such a mammoth slab of meat.... read on!

How I Turned Vegan
It all started some time back in June 2003. A bunch of us from work went on a team building camping trip to the Forest of Dean for a weekend. It was a good laugh but we made the mistake of eating, on the Saturday night, at a little pub near Symonds Yat Rock called The King of Spain. This pub is reknowned for it's steaks and the menu has a wide variety to choose from. They also have a little board on the wall that tells you a special 100oz steak can be ordered in advance, for those with a bigger appetite. Also attached to the board is a photograph of the last guy who ate it. It's a nice shot of this doe-eyed, medium-build forty-something in a tracksuit poised over the biggest lump of charred meat you've ever seen. For me, seeing this photo was like the greyhound spotting the hare. I knew there and then, I had to have it.

Kobayashi wins Nathan's Famous with a new world record!
Congratulations to Takeru Kobayashi, for not only winning the Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest at Coney Island, but setting a new world record! 53 and 3/4 in 12 minutes! A fantastic effort by Joey "The Jaws" Chestnut as well, for finishing 52 in the 12 minute timeframe. But the most interesting thing I've found about this event is the fact that Kobayashi has eaten more than 16,000 calories in 12 minutes! (and Chestnut's pretty close to that too). And not only that, they've consumed nearly 1,000g fat. 1kg!! 2.2lbs!!! of FAT!! I hope they've got a solid gym regime planned for the next few weeks!

More than 16,500 calories and 1,000 grams of fat will be consumed on July 4 by any competitive eater in the 2006 Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest in New York who matches the current world record, according to an analysis by CalorieLab. CalorieLab has created an FDA-format Nutrition Facts label showing the nutrient value of Takeru “The Tsunami” Kobayashi’s 2004 world record of 53.5 Nathan’s Famous hot dogs, eaten in 12 minutes.
