Eating Out
The Carnegie Deli, 55th Street, New York
Following on from jeffuwo's 3lb sandwich, and encouraged by our last anonymous post, I ended up googling around and finding the store which sold him this fantastic sandwich. It's called The Carnegie Deli, 55th Street, New York.

After reading up on their web site, turns out this place has been around for quite a while! Not only do they do massive Pastrami sandwiches, how about Carnegie's "Subsational" 6 foot sandwich, or their Famous 4 layered Sloppy Joes? I haven't got those pictures (yet!) but I plan to! They even have a service where they bring the deli to you! How's this...

We set up two eight foot tables - plug in our commercial meat slicer - STEAM our own world's best Corned Beef - Pastrami and Brisket of Beef in large portable chafing dishes and then cut it to order for your guests in any amount and combination they desire

I've added some more images to the Carnegie Deli photo gallery, so if you have any you'd like to send through, email to and I'll post them up!

Me again - I love the Carnagie's pastrami and corned-beef rubens - you have to try one of those.

But tell us more about the sloppy joes! I want to make that here if I can(...here being Holland). What's in the 4 layers?

Hi "me" (sign up!!! log in and post comments under your username :))

Here's what in the Sloppy Joes (from the menu)

This remarkable platter is made up of various CARNEGIE specialties which include combinations of Tongue, Turkey, Pastrami, Corned Beef and Fresh Brisket, Cole Slaw and Russian Dressing

ooof! That does sound good!

I'm lucky I don't live over there anymore—I'd be the size of a house!
